Although the number of amazing and cute things that happen at Dry Gulch events are still overwhelming (and too numerous to mention); the bizarre things just keep getting even more bizarre! Case in point: Yesterday, at a Birthday Party there was a young woman in her mid twenty's. I always tell the adults (separately) that if they are there just to observe, to please let the children find the gems and minerals for themselves. It is more tactile and rewarding for the kids that way. They (the adults) are also not permitted to mine and put the items in their pockets for little Bobby and Suzy back home. Sure enough not more than ten minutes into the event I spotted this lady with five arrowheads in her hand. When I approached her about them she clutched her hand tight and said: "I'm going to hand them out to the kids"... I told her: " That ruins the very concept of why the kids are there in the first place, as it is " a treasure hunt"! She then slammed them into my open hand and stormed away.
Here's the kicker... I later learned that this lady is the Pastor of the Family's Church!!! Now that sends a great message to today's youth... doesn't it!?
